It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas! We just got hit with lots of snow today, then it started raining in the evening and it looks like all the cars have ice on their windshields. I want to try to feature more red and green polishes coming up for anyone who hasn’t decided on colors for their Christmas Manis yet.
Orly’s Lucky Duck is a color that matches my artificial Christmas tree perfectly. I find it hard to describe the color but it reminds me a lot of children’s toys. Formula is good on this, and the polish is a nice cream with no shimmer. On my nails is two coats of this color.
Sally Hansen’s Bronze Ablaze is a gorgeous olivey brown with golden shimmer. The color its absolutely gorgeous and I always get reminded of the fall leaves and brisk weather when I look at it. As I passed the trees with their red and gold leaves, I felt the urge to write up a quick post about this pretty fall color.
Julep’s nail polish in Amy is part of their American Beauty maven style. It is a gorgeous blue green teal. It reminds me of Butter London’s Artful Dodger. I do need to do a side by side comparison however to see if that is an accurate comparison. This color is one of those blueish greens that I have been so drawn towards lately. The formula of this polish was a bit more runny, than what I have come to expect from Julep polishes. It was still fully opaque in two coats.
I hope everyone has had a chance to take advantage of the big Sephora by OPI deal thats going on right now. The polishes are usually $8 or $9 a piece but right now are $10 for 3! I dont have too many of these but hope my swatches help some of you guys make your minds on a couple of colors that you might be interested in getting.
I picked up the Jenna Hipp nail polish collection at Costco earlier in the summer. I was pretty excited to see this at Costco and at such an awesome price to considering they are five free. It was only $15 for a set of twelve mini polishes.
I had tried to swatch these earlier but had such a hard time and everything was all goopy and gross. I’m so glad I had tried then again because application was nothing like the first time. Maybe I shouldn’t try to do my nails during the heat wave eh?
Duri is a brand that I’ve never had too many polishes from. I’m not sure why not more stores carry them, but I can only find them at beauty salons and one nail supply store. Anyways onwards to my few … Continue reading →
As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, I was working on swatching all the polishes I had. One of the smaller collections is from Sally Hansen, their Xtreme wear line that I only have 4 polishes from. … Continue reading →
Blah what’s with the days of rain in May? May is suppose to be all flowers and April should have been rainy and glum. With the weather being so gloomy lately I decided to use a couple of my favorite Spring shades on my nails to brighten up my mood.
Originally I didn’t plan on using two colors but when I had both if these polishes next to each other, the choice was evident. I love how contrasting these two shades are. I did random accent fingers again however at this point I don’t really think its random anymore as I always seem to choose these fingers when I do multiple accent fingers. Anyways enough with the babble, here’s the mani!
In my cup: 7-11 Columbian roast with caramel macchiato creamer
The previous mani was a little bright and loud for the office so I decided to go with a darker green for the latter half of the week. When Mun first saw my nails, the first thing she said to me was its still March! The color is very pretty, very dark, almost blackened olive green with some gold shimmer.I reused the three studs that was able to survive those two days of being on my nails but the mani would have looked better with golden studs than silver ones.
On my nails: Color Club Twiggie? In my cup: Starbucks Anniversary Blend
Last week with my Ivanka and Sweet P mani, I had tried it with the peel of base coat of glue that everyone blogged about. The unconventional base coat made tip wear unbearable by day three and I had to remove it. I tried to peel it off but it did not work. I was however able to scrape it of more easily than with a real base coat.
Anyways after I removed it I had become more busy the rest of the week and just couldn’t muster up the concentration needed to do my nails. As a result Mun said I owe her an extra week of green.
So last night despite me being terribly tired and sleepy, I knew I had to do my nails before I slept. I decided on a creamy neon green for this mani as I wanted something more candy like so I can stud my nails like the Kate Spade nails from fashion week.
I believe the Color Club shade that I used was Twiggie however the sticker is missing and I cannot be sure. I usually don’t have much complaints about Color Club polishes but this one in particular was a pain to work with. It was incredibly patchy even with 3 medium coats I still had some bald spots. It also got thick and goopy very quickly. As with most neons the amount of pigments make the polish matte so top coat is needed.
I have decided to only stud my pointer, middle and ring fingers on both hands. I was too tired for clean up last night and was going to do it tonight and take pictures tonight but I lost a stud when I was putting on my jeans so I had to take the picture immediately before losing anymore studs!
